Mark Strong
Intensive English Instructor
Mark has taught ESL for 10 years. Half of the time was in Japan, Korea and Thailand, while the other five years were at a language school in Seattle. He earned his undergrad in linguistics with TESOL certification and recently completed his MAEID Instructional Design and TESOL grad cert with honors. He鈥檚 also studied four other languages, with the second strongest being conversational Japanese. He prefers blending language skills in the classroom, as well as giving opportunities to connect topics to life experiences.
He volunteers with the South King Tool Library, a sustainability-focused organization that lends tools to the community, and has applied certain principles to teaching, such as reducing the need for paper, recycling things, and using items to their fullest potential. He鈥檚 a gamer and took to gamification in education during his graduate studies, but hasn鈥檛 implemented it in his classes yet. Watch out for that!
